Wellness in the Rainforest

Wellness in the Rainforest

Yoga & Ayurveda Retreat

Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica

October 11 - 17, 2026 (6 Nights)

with Kayla Copeland & Kate Bentley

held at Samasati Yoga & Wellness Retreat Center

Wake to the sound of howler monkeys in the jungle canopy, sip warm herbal tea as the Caribbean sun rises, and move through a morning yoga practice overlooking the rainforest and sea.

Set within 250 acres of protected rainforest on Costa Rica’s lush Caribbean coast, this immersive retreat blends daily yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic wisdom, tropical nourishment, and meaningful cultural connection in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. Each day is designed to help you soften the nervous system, restore natural rhythms, and reconnect with yourself through practice, rest, and nature.

Guided by senior yoga teacher Kayla Copeland and Kate Bentley, Faculty Instructor at Mount Madonna Institute, this retreat offers a grounded and inspiring blend of Vinyasa, Yin, meditation, Ayurvedic self care, food as medicine teachings, and restorative time in the jungle and sea.

Come home to yourself in a place where the rainforest breathes, the ocean slows you down, and wellness becomes something you can feel in your body.

What to Expect

A week of yoga, Ayurveda, tropical nourishment, and deep restoration on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast

There are places that invite you to relax.

And then there are places that help you remember who you are beneath the noise.

This retreat is the latter.

Nestled within 250 acres of protected rainforest above Costa Rica’s Caribbean coastline, Samasati Yoga & Wellness Retreat Center offers a rare kind of sanctuary: jungle trails winding through medicinal plants and tropical flowers, sweeping ocean views from open air terraces, the sounds of toucans and howler monkeys overhead, and the kind of humidity, salt air, and birdsong that seem to pull the body back into its natural rhythm.

Here, your days begin with sunrise tea and quiet reflection, followed by morning meditation and Vinyasa Flow as warm tropical light filters through the trees. Afternoons invite spaciousness, perhaps a swim in the Caribbean, a hammock nap beneath the canopy, a waterfall hike, birdwatching, a massage, or simply time to exhale. As the day winds down, you will gather again for Yin, restorative practice, Yoga Nidra, or gentle evening meditation, allowing the nervous system to settle deeply before dinner.

This is not simply a yoga retreat with Ayurveda added on.

It is a whole body reset rooted in the intelligence of rhythm, environment, nourishment, and practice.

Led by senior yoga teacher Kayla Copeland and Kate Bentley, Faculty Instructor at Mount Madonna Institute, this week long immersion weaves together yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic lifestyle teachings, tropical plant based meals, forest bathing, cultural experience, and intentional rest to create a retreat that is both deeply restorative and profoundly alive.

What makes this retreat unique

Daily yoga designed to energize, regulate, and restore

Each day includes two distinct yoga experiences designed to meet the body where it is:

• Morning practice: meditation, breathwork, and Vinyasa Flow to awaken circulation, build prana, and create steadiness for the day

• Evening practice: Yin, restorative yoga, gentle floor based release, Yoga Nidra, or meditation to unwind the fascia, downshift the nervous system, and support deeper sleep

This rhythm allows participants to experience both activation and integration, which is vital in a setting where the body naturally wants to become more receptive, open, and regulated.

All levels are welcome. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or returning to your mat after a long pause, the practices will be thoughtfully guided and accessible.

Ayurveda in a way you can actually live

Kate Bentley brings Ayurveda out of the abstract and into the felt experience of the retreat itself.

Rather than only speaking about Ayurvedic theory, participants will experience how Ayurveda lives in the body through daily rhythm, digestion, sensory regulation, tropical climate awareness, and food as medicine.

Ayurveda sessions may include:

• Discovering your dosha and understanding your unique constitution

• How to create a dinacharya, or daily rhythm, that supports steadiness and vitality

• Self abhyanga, or self oil massage, and simple nervous system supportive rituals

• Ayurvedic digestion principles in a tropical environment

• Food combining, agni support, and how to eat for clarity rather than heaviness

• How to recognize imbalance through sleep, appetite, mood, elimination, energy, and sensory overload

• Simple take home practices for travel, seasonal transitions, and stress recovery

This is practical, embodied Ayurveda. It is not overwhelming, not dogmatic, and deeply supportive.

Nourishing meals that support practice and digestion

Meals are not an afterthought here. They are part of the medicine.

Throughout the week, you will enjoy three daily vegan or vegetarian buffet style meals built around fresh tropical produce, local ingredients, and balanced plant based protein options such as beans, lentils, tofu, seitan, and quinoa.

Expect the kind of food that feels vibrant and alive:

• Tropical fruits at breakfast

• Grounding grains and legumes

• Colorful vegetables and fresh herbs

• Warming teas

• Fresh juices

• Satisfying meals that support yoga practice without weighing you down

This retreat is especially designed to help guests experience what it feels like to be well fed, well rested, and well regulated without the overstimulation of modern life.
