Heart Wide Open
This dynamic and intelligently sequenced workshop is designed to help students build strength, confidence, and clarity in their backbending practice.
We will move through a strong, alignment-focused vinyasa flow incorporating the wall to fortify key actions and deepen body awareness. The practice will progressively prepare the body for deeper backbends through targeted back strengthening, thigh stretching, shoulder mobility, and chest opening.

DESCRIPTION:
Key postures will include Urdhva Danurasana (Full Wheel), Natarajasana (Dancer Pose), and variations of Danurasana (Bow Pose).
The workshop will begin with a thoughtfully designed strong wall vinyasa sequence to safely and gradually open the body. From there, we’ll explore prop-based techniques and supportive drills to create more space, stability, and comfort, especially for students who find backbending challenging.
Ample time will be dedicated to breaking down and workshopping peak poses, with individualized guidance to support a wide range of practitioners. This offering is well-suited for:

Practitioners looking to refine alignment and reduce discomfort in backbends
Yoga teachers and advanced practitioners seeking skillful progressions toward more advanced transitions such as dropping back and standing up from Wheel

About Your Teacher:
Lily Dwyer Begg has practiced for over two decades and taught yoga full time since 2006. A former professional modern dancer, she teaches vinyasa, prenatal, postnatal, yoga for scoliosis, and Somatic Practice. She has taught yoga for international yoga studios from Germany to Japan; shared practice with YogaWorks in their studios, PYTT teacher trainings, and with their online platform for students all around the world; shared yoga for athletes with the Golden State Warriors NBA basketball team an an NCAA diving team at UC Berkeley; and worked therapeutically with private clients across the globe.
Lily runs a global online practice group with potent weekly livestream classes, works with private clients in person and online, and shares international retreats for deep yoga immersion and profound inner reset.
